GrimmChristian.jpgDr Christian Grimm has joined the Department with effect from 1 April on a 50% FTE appointment. Christian will retain a 50% post in the Walther Straub Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) in Munich.

Since completing his PhD at the University Berlin in 2004, Christian has postdocotral research experience at both Harvard and Stanford Universities in the US along with industrial experience with Bayer and Pfizer.

His research is focussed on intracellular/endolysosomal ion channels as novel targets for disease therapy (in particular ion channels in lysosomes and endosomes), with several ongoing established industry collaborations. Of particular interest is the physiology and pathophysiology of several diseases associated with lysosomal dysfunction such as metabolic and neurodegenerative diseases/ lysosomal storage disorders.

Christian will lead on the development of Pharmacology’s Centre for Organelle Drug Discovery (CODD).
