Pharmacology provides an inclusive environment which promotes equality, values diversity and respects the rights and dignity of all its staff. In addition to assisting all members of the Department to reach their full potential, Pharmacology is working to remove any barriers which might deter people from applying for posts or student places.

We do not tolerate any behaviour which makes members of the Department feel uncomfortable and have a well-established anti-bullying and harassment policy. There are two harassment advisors in the Department who will listen and advise members of the Department who feel that they have been unfairly treated.

Resources available to all staff to help them develop their knowledge of equality and diversity issues include:

  • Equality and Diversity training to help staff reflect on how they can support an inclusive environment
  • Implicit Bias in the Workplace - to help staff to understand implicit bias and where it comes from, how it impacts on the people around us in the workplace, and what you can do to minimise the negative consequences

The Department's Athena SWAN Self-Assessment Team, which features members from all levels of the Department working together, is continuing to develop actions and initiatives to improve the working environment within Pharmacology to the benefit of all members of the Department.
